For those that know me and that perhaps follow me on Twitter (@dooohhead) you may have noticed something odd in my “Tweeting” behaviour today. I’m usually more reserved and laid-back in my tweeting but for some reason I needed a way to express the environment I am working in. Its intention was not to make light of it, or to make fun of anyone involved, more to document in a very verbose and non-sensical way the pressure involved and felt by everyone. I was a fury of tweets, all day.
I work in a pod cube formation with three others. It is the main working area for the entire office. Most if not all meetings occur there and for the most part its where everyone hangs out. Our company is gearing up for one of its busiest times ever, so everyone is participating in everything as much as possible. The tweets that I posted during the day were tid-bits of conversations heard within our pod. Some were actually spoken by me, by others in the pod and some by other people coming into the pod. They were all taken out of context for the conversations they were intended. In a way they (the tweets) represent the bits and pieces of all of those conversations which weren’t intended necessarily for me but which through cracks in my concentration were heard and then shared. Believe it or not with all of these cracks in my concentration, I was able to focus clearly on what it was I was trying to accomplish and I left work feeling like I accomplished quite a bit. There was no proprietary information released about us or any potential customers, etc. just bits of sentences really.
Some were funny, some made you wonder. Some were sayings that we all say but when taken out of context, just sound silly and you have to laugh. I enjoyed this Twitter-thon today that I had. Maybe I’ll make it my new every-Friday event. It kinda makes the last work day of the week end on a fun note.
