A letter I composed and sent to Industry Minister Tony Clement as well as my local MP regarding the recent idea by the government to change the wording of our national anthem. All because of one persons email to Tony Clement and because of “them” hearing it a lot recently at the Olympics. Its dumb.
Dear Mr. Clement,
If all it takes for you and the other MP’s to consider changing our national anthem is an email from one constituent then please accept this email from a constituent in opposition of changing our national anthem. (refer to http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/774649–conservatives-eye-new-lyrics-for-our-national-anthem?bn=1)
I was born in this country, and have happily lived here for 47 years. Never once have I ever heard any complaints about our national anthem. I am proud of our anthem, as it is. Do not allow it to be changed (again). It would severely affect my faith in our government if this were to happen. Maybe if you are not able to illicit the pride that all Canadians feel when they hear/sing our national anthem, then maybe you are really no longer a voice of the real people and should in no way be in any “power” at all with regards to the government and its affairs.
Check out how real people feel about it: http://www.cbc.ca/news/pointofview/2010/03/-intro-copy-here-do.html, get off your “head” and go talk to some real people and see what they have to say.
I believe you have been prorogued long enough, please find some real government business to concentrate on, not this tripe.
Please do not change the anthem.
