The empty 401

Doooh’s Picture Of The Day
The empty 401

This to me is an amazing photograph. For anyone familiar with Highway 401 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada this is a scene that you may never see again in a lifetime.

This photo is not mine, full credit goes to the photographer “Lone Primate” (Flickr).

It sends chills up my spine. One where you imagine such a photo to be of some post apocalyptic scene where there just isn’t any vehicular traffic.

The propane explosion was bad enough, seeing Highway 401 like this…wow.

I can relate. i was in Manhattan when the Twin Towers were hit on 9/11/2001.
Later that evening, Times Square was closing up, pulling the gates across the stores, shops, and restaurants.
The next morning, when usually there are countless thousands of cars, taxi’s, and mass transit, the streets were empty. Not a car running. Not a bus, or taxi. Just a couple of kids on bikes riding in the middle of Times Square.
