  • New carpeting throughout the upstairs (which meant everything that was upstairs, is now downstairs. We are living in the basement. Carpet installers)
  • New window/door trim put up
  • Painted the entire upstairs, walls and trim (painter)
  • Replaced all electrical outlets and switches (one room left to do)
  • Got rid of extra furniture (sold, put out to garbage, etc)
  • Got rid of extra clothes

Here’s whats still to be done:

  • New baseboards to be painted and put up
  • 3 sets of closet doors need to be put back up
  • 3 rooms’ main overhead light to be replaced
  • Window trim in bathroom
  • refinish bath tub, replace taps and put up tub-surround (contractor)
  • paint bathroom
  • fix bathroom GFCI receptacle
  • Paint shed
  • Order, then build deck
  • Lay new flooring in kitchen, bathroom and dining room
  • Put in new backsplash in kitchen along with new sink and taps
  • Finish trim in dining room

If you do all that, then why move?

To get closer to work, to save money. Between parking fees, bridge fees and gas, I spend more now, per month than I currently do on a mortgage.
What I’m looking to do is to not necessarily reduce my commute time, but eliminate fuel usage for that commute as well as the parking fees and the bridge fees currently involved. House prices in the city are more but if I can also eliminate one of our vehicles as well as the other overhead costs involved then I believe I will be way further ahead.
    Thats the plan anyways.
