Vacation is over 😦 so now I’m back to work. I had a wonderful and busy vacation time. Spent lots of money leading up to Xmas, after Xmas, and still going strong. Xmas was good and different this year. Instead of eating the typical turkey, we had a “Turduckin”. For those who don’t know what that is, its a boneless turkey, stuffed with a boneless duck, stuffed with a boneless chicken which was then stuffed with a cajun sausage stuffing. It was literally all meat. It was a little spicey but it was something different. As usual the entire meal my wife put out, was incredible, the mashed potatoes, turnips and carrots, corn, my wifes homemade stuffing, the turduckin and of course the gravy. For desert she had made the sugar-free lemon meringue (sp?) pie, plumb pudding with her and her Mother’s special sauce and crepes for my son. As usual we had our friend Eric for dinner, and we had invited his friend and her mother as well, so there was six of us for Christmas dinner. We drank lots of scotch on Xmas, finished off one bottle and drank half of another, then we got into the beer. By dinner time none of us were feeling any pain.
Two days after Xmas was a special day for us…it was delivery day. Days before Xmas we hit up Leon’s and purchased a 51″ widescreen HD TV but since we no longer have the truck, we had to wait for delivery and the 27th was it. We also enquired about getting HD channels from Starchoice. To do that we have to purchase a new satellite reciever but when the girl I was talking to heard that I still had the original dish that we got when we purchased our system, she said that we were more than qualified to recieve a new dish for free. If we did go out and purchase a new receiver we would have had to get a new dish anyways to be able to recieve those channels, so to get a new dish for free was a bonus! It was to be installed on that same day, so it was a good day to stay home, no shopping for us!
The TV got delivered, the Leon’s delivery people were awesome. The brought the tv to the front door, took it out of the box, brought it in and set it up then took all of the packaging away. No muss, no fuss, it was great. It took me a little while to figure out how to hook up the satellite receiver and DVD/VCR, stereo to it but eventually I was successful. It was about then that the satellite dish installer showed up. We were watching the movie Ice Age II so it was perfect timing. He had a tough time aligning the dish, it probably took him an extra hour to figure out than he normally takes, he said. The signal strength I don’t think is as strong as it previously was with the old dish but it has been working without any problems so all’s good.
For New Years we bought a bottle of pink champagne and $40 worth of fireworks. We took a radio outside and listened to the local countdown then lit off all of the fireworks. It was fun. We had rented about five movies and had been watching them all evening. We ended up staying awake until about 3 in the morning, drinking and watching the movies.
