Live Nativity

This past weekend, my wifes church put on a live nativity schene at a local park. The park surrounds a small pond, and at various places around the walking path that goes around the park, there were stations setup, each one containing a different “part” of the nativity schene. This first picture shows the Inn keeper and his wife. He lamented about not having any place for Mary and Joseph to stay but Joseph wouldn’t take no for an answer.

This next picture represents the angels notifying us of a birth to come, of a very special person. The church choir sang several wonderful songs at this second station.

At the last “Manger” station you can see the angels (the choir), several shepards, Mary with her baby and of course the live animals.

I know this next photo isn’t that good, but it shows some of the angels along with the Pastor of the church giving a reading. That was followed by a guitar solo and a few songs.

The three wise men/kings were carried in and nelt before the baby Jesus.

A final parting shot of the wise old King as he departs from the manger.

This was all put on as a play, acting out the various parts of the whole nativity. They did a wonderful job. It was done in the evening, so it was difficult getting some good photos, the flash was necessary for just about every shot. After the show was finished, everyone was invited back to the church for some refreshments and some treats. They had Hot chocolate, coffee, tea and even hot apple cider. There seemed to be about 200-300 people attending the show, about twice as much as they had expected.  It was a little cool that evening but nothing compared to what it should have been for this time of the year.
