A Bricklin/Bricklyn?

Doooh’s Picture of the Day
This is a Bricklin/Bricklyn(?). I’m not sure how to spell it, although in the one of the pics the owner has it as “Bricklin”, but I don’t think thats correct. Ok, just checked with Google, and it actually was right, its Bricklin. So what you ask? Big deal! Exactly. Its just a car I was sittin’ in, and “someone” asked me what it was, so I decided to show the pic, then maybe they will see what it is and know what it is. If anyone has any further interests, go here to a Bricklin page. It will explain it.

I don’t want this to be a huge entry as I have already done one for today. I just finished slapping some body filler onto the car and am waiting for it to harden. I had to plug up a few holes so that it passes inspection. Hopefully it doesn’t rain again tomorrow so that I can sand it and spray some paint over it. I usually use lots of that rubberized undercoating so when the mechanic does his inspection for rust holes, which involves him poking a screwdriver up underneath, he won’t go through what I have fixed. Yesterday I chewed the rust out of it, cut and put in some aluminium to cover the holes, held in with rivets. The body filler comes tonight, maybe some sanding as well, then tomorrow finish it off and put some paint on it and it should be good to go. We’re going to be leaving it with the mechanic while we are gone to Toronto as there is other work to be done on it (apparently). We’ll see what happens with it when we get back, hopefully it will have that nice and shiny blue “passed” inspection sticker on it. The red “failed to pass” inspection sticker is on it now.

A day

Doooh’s Picture of the Day
This past weekend was of course Canada’s birthday (On July 1st) so everything in this province was more or less shut down. My wife and I got up early thinking that we had to take our son to his taekwon-do class, but then realized that it would be cancelled. So we putted around the house for a little while then realized we were missing some parades. We took off to Elmsdale to see its parade. We ended up pulling up right behind the parade as it left its staging area and unlike other parades in the area, it doesn’t end up back there, so there was no reason to stick around, we had already missed it. We went back home and putted around for a little while more. My son asked us to take him over to a friends house, so we took him there then wandered down to Shubenacadie (where we used to live) to see when their parade was going on. We lucked out, it was just beginning as we found a parking spot.

The parade was typical for rural towns. It consisted of a few “floats” (trailers that have been decorated and being pulled by a tractor), fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, tractors and any kind of nice looking car owned by a local resident. Beleive it or not there was only one horse in the entire parade.

We then headed on down to Bedford, where they were celebrating “Bedford Days”. We went to where it was suppossedly being held and we found a park with a childs playground on it, a stage setup and a horse drawn wagon giving kids rides. We walked around, took a few pictures, mostly because it was right on the Bedford Basin, so there was a good view of Halifax and one of the bridges, and there were a few sail boats sailing around. It was a nice view, but there wasn’t anything going on that my wife and I would be interested in, so we left there and headed to the waterfront in Halifax.

We located a free parking spot at a parking meter. All meters are free during any kind of a holiday. We walked down to the boardwalk and it was wall to wall people. One of the military ships were docked there and were allowing tours. We didn’t go on it. I was checking out the Harbour Hopper and suggesting to my wife that we take another tour on it, but she didn’t want to. They were doing a special tour in the evening for when the fireworks were going on, but she didn’t want to stick around that long.

Some guy was showing off his Bricklyn, so I asked if I could take a picture, he said sure, so I did. He then asked if I wanted him to take a picture of me in it, so I said I would, so I showed him how to operate the camera and jumped in the car. It looks cool because of the gull-wing doors, other than that, it didn’t seem all that special to me. We continued our walk then decided we had had enough and started to head back. On the way back we decided to stop in at the Olde Triangle, a pub located near to where we parked. At work we always try to go there for our friday lunch, but it is always too busy. It was busy then too, but not too bad. We got a seat, and ordered some drinks then ordered some wings and nachos. The wings were good, and the nachos even better. We watched a bit of one of the soccer games that were on then headed back to the car. It was around 6:00 when we got home and my wife was feeling tired and was going to have a nap. She asked if I would wake her up at around 8:00 so that we could get ready and go back to Shubenacadie for the fireworks that evening. When 8:00 came around I woke her up and she didn’t want to get up, so we didn’t go to see the fireworks. Oh well, no biggie, we had had a busy day and had travelled quite a few kilometers as it was. It was time to stop.

JOKE OF THE DAY:

After a long night of making love, he notices a photo of another man on her night stand by the bed. He begins to worry.
“Is this your husband?” he nervously asks.
“No, silly,” she replies, snuggling up to him.
“Your boyfriend, then?” he continues.
“No, not at all,” she says, nibbling away at his ear.
“Is it your dad or your brother?” he inquires, hoping to be reassured.
“No, Silly!!!” she answers.
“Well, who in the hell is he, then?” he demands.
“That’s me before my surgery.”
